sea gull century 2007it's a breeze
all that training paid off and I have another century (the third) behind me. the weather was wonderful for this year's sea gull century after last year's monsoonlike conditions. I enjoyed my new ride buddies too. saw some babes on bikes along the way. took about 10 hours to finish this year, with an average speed of 12mph. and only the last few miles of bugginess were unbearable. I must say that mount weather training ride the week before was more of a challenge. after a good night's rest, the beach at ocean city called and we answered along with a boardwalk full of others taking advantage of 90 degrees in october.

oak point
thoroughly enjoyed a walk in the woods with mom for her birthday surprise. and the stuffed green peppers that the lady in line at kroger envied. spotted sang in green and yellow. neslee and daisy joined us this year - always a different canine crew. driest we've seen - no water running in the bend at the end of the trail. and thanks to dad for keeping the surprise under wraps.

harry potter
the last book finished the saga in a satisfying, nail-biting way. didn't even realize I had read 700 pages, except when I was lugging the book around.

twins
congratulations stacie & jared on the arrival of lydia louise and hannah elizabeth.

great falls
best money I've spent this year was getting the season park pass. now I just hop over there any time I get a chance. sometimes for slower hikes with the camera. sometimes faster with the dog.

hits
most of my shots posted on flickr get a hit or two. some of the more popular like happy feet and smurf mushrooms get a hundred hits or two. but when I posted some funny signs in a viral pool this month, whoa, 1,000 plus hits on no swinging, party in threw here and please go.

on my mind
headed down to joe-ja this week.

bridge day
looking forward to sharing wv with my friends and co-workers on the third weekend in october, along with 200,000 other spectators.

closer
having fun trying out new lenses with my camera. amazing how close you can get when you find that step down ring.

milestone
since the move to virginia, I've ridden my bicycle more than 1,500 miles. all around northern virginia, DC and maryland. even some rides in greenbrier county - on the river trail and up north fork. one of my favorite rides around here is to take the bike path down to the potomac, ride up to bethesda, then come back through rock creek park. that's about 35 miles.

into the wild
this movie lived up to my expectations, being a big fan of the book. there were parts, like the bear scenes, that they didn't focus on as much as I would have, but the rest was engrossing and moving and jarring enough to keep me from running off to alaska.

who knew
did you know that natalie and trinity were played by the same person? she was in disturbia too.
