climbing, climbing and more climbing.
an unbelievable session at carderock.
set up a climb with two routes -
one easier on the crack
and one harder on the face.
everyone pushed themselves and
cheered each other on to success.
dave with his extended reach,
sadie with her yoga-like balance,
james with his determination, and
me with all my hope in my shoes
and all my focus on the top.

touching base
with the power of google, I caught up with two old friends this week - charlie dodrill and leigh limerick. charlie was a classmate from first grade at lakewood until senior year at SAHS. the last time I saw him was at the morgantown kroger in the early '90s. he has gone on to become an accomplished christian musician living in nashville. leigh lived on the same floor as james in boreman north at WVU. she loved emmett otter as much as me, made killer meatloaf sandwiches and lived life with every ounce of fun possible. she's married and living near charleston now.

judgment day
joined the north bethesda camera club in september with haley and mauricio's encouragement. at my first meeting I entered three flower shots. here's what the judge thought... about the dandelion: beautifully lit, but try selective focus to soften background, lower camera angle to get rid of competing elements, wait for the clouds to pass for a beautiful blue sky... about the daffodils: very good diagonal, but it's crying out for selective focus as background on top left is too busy, brown... about the roses: not as strong as the other competitors' roses, close the black hole in the bottom middle.

big plans
planning to have a big november. want to get up each morning, ride 9 miles to the mormon temple and back, sit down and tackle nanowrimo, finish at least one quilt, travel to pendleton county to explore the via ferrata, get a flu shot, enter curves at the camera club, climb tuesdays at the rockville gym, get out geocaching in the leaves and keep writing headlines above the fold.
